PROSOLVE Tool Cleaner

The Best Non Hazardous Tool Cleaner on the Market

PROSOLVE Tool Cleaner offers a new approach to meeting the ever-increasing regulations involving the removal of hazardous solvents from the workplace. PROSOLVE Tool Cleaner is a next generation “Hyper Solvent Technology” formula made from organic renewable sources. Designed to be easy to use, low odor, non-flammable, and have a very low toxicity profile. PROSOLVE products eliminate the need for Acetone in all areas of composite manufacturing.

PROSOLVE Tool Cleaner has been fully tested on its effect in resin curing with little to no difference in physical properties in quantities up to 10% of the resin! Residue from the rollers will not cause cure issues like other solvent replacements available. PROSOLVE Tool Cleaner will continue to work even with a high level of resin load and does not become sticky. Once resin is cleaned it will finish curing in the container or can be sent to a flocking station then fall to the bottom as a polymerized sedimentation that can be discarded as solid waste. Please review our hazardous waste elimination plan to better understand the process.

ProSolve Tool Cleaner – What Is It and How Does it Work?

The ProSolve Tool Cleaner is used to flush out the chopper guns, clean the chopper gun parts, and for cleaning resin off of other tools such as rollers and scissors. It can also be used to flush out and clean putty guns. The unique property of the Tool Cleaner is that it will allow the initiated resin to continue to cure in the presence of it. That property also allows the products to be reused many times when the flocculation procedures are used to reclaim them.

The resin is a larger, heavier particle, and will settle out of the liquid with time and gravity. When this occurs, one can reclaim the Tool Cleaner by pumping it from the vessel it accumulates in. Flushing of the chopper guns uses a good bit of product and should be done into a 5-gallon pail so that it may be reused. There will be some saturation of product over time, but the Tool Cleaner will continue to perform well at up to a 40% saturation.

It is recommended that the roller cleaning be done in a 5-gallon bucket with only about 2 gallons of Tool Cleaner in it. There is a process change from the acetone norm here. We ask that the rollers be cleaned right after use and be put aside to dry. The reasoning of course is that the resin cure will not be inhibited by the Tool Cleaner and therefore will continue to harden if soaked in the tool cleaner.

The tool cleaner can also be used to clean up resin from the floor, but, due to it not evaporating and having some surfactant in the formula, it is highly recommended to mop the area cleaned afterward to get the tool cleaner removed. This will prevent any slip hazards. Water will hydrolyze the tool cleaner and affect an easy clean up.

What is the Cleaning Process for this Tool Cleaner?

Pumps and Lines

(Chopper Guns; Wet out Guns; RTM impregnator)

  1. Replace acetone in the pressure pot with Tool Cleaner
  2. Press the trigger to flush, ensuring that material is flushed into a pail for re-use

Chopper Guns – Gun

    1. Disassemble and use in the same manner as acetone. Brush parts clean and dry with a dry rag.
    2. Small parts can be soaked for a short period, but no more than an hour. The resin will still kick off if left alone and still. Agitation is recommended if soaking.

Mixer Blades

    1. Put the appropriate amount of tool cleaner in the fixed vessel below the blade, enough to cover the entire blade and create a slight vortex while mixing
    2. Turn on and mix. The time frame will depend on the thickness of what was mixed.
    3. Lift out of the Tool Cleaner and wipe down with a dry rag

Resin Rollers

    1. Fill a bucket about 2-4 inches high with Tool Cleaner.
    2. Take roller and roll vigorously on the floor of the bucket for 5-10 seconds. Strike the inside of the bucket 3 or 4 times and repeat.
    3. Remove the roller from the tool cleaner and hang it to dry. If it is the end of the shift, pull the roller off the handle and store it appropriately
    4. Do not ever leave rollers with curing resin in the bucket to soak. They might lock up and will be harder to clean the next time.

CIPP Impregnator

    1. Place a gallon of CIPP Tool Cleaner in the initiator compartment.
    2. Run the machine in recirculation  mode for up to 5 minutes
    3. Flush the tool cleaner into a container and transport it to the Flocculation vessel for reuse.
    4. Disconnect the resin line.
    5. Take 3-5 gallons of tool Cleaner in a bucket and use it as the feed for the resin line
    6. Flush through the static mixer into a 5-gallon bucket for capture and/or reuse.
    7. If particularly dirty, repeat d-f.
